First off, my two week waiting period with Addictinggames is up, so Escape 5 is now here on the site

As an added bonus I've also uploaded Swain's Mastermind: World Conqueror game to the site. After all you can even hire Afro-Ninja to assist in your plans for world domination...

Next up: Territory War. The next installment in the series will officially be called Territory War 3. No, not Territory War Online 2. TWO made a notable step forward with online play so I felt the need to tack 'online' to the title. TW3 however will continue the series forward so I feel that online play is a given.

As for the current version of TWO, there will be no more updates. None. Ever. As far as I'm concerned the source code is to be sealed away like an ancient relic.

I do not intend to start TW3 until the end of this year. Keyword start, so don't expect anything until 2011. I'm going to be taking a break from flash this summer to learn some new things, as well as explore Philadelphia a bit. I have a couple game ideas I might work on casually but that's all I can say for now

Lastly, Puzzmosis has not been forgotten. In fact, it's fairly close to finished. We all sort of got side tracked with different projects, and there have been some delays on the audio end of things. Expect it sometime this summer.

Escape 5!

RSS Feed
Posted by Shawn on June 6, 2010

Escape 5 was released friday on Addictinggames!

Play here

Sorry for the late update but I've been in Canada this weekend without a lot of free time. As per the sponsorship contract the game will remain exclusive on AG for a couple weeks, after which I'll put it up on other sites, including my own. When I upload it here I'll be adding another game as well, an older entry created by a friend of mine that features a cameo appearance by afro-ninja himself!

You might notice that the escape series has taken on a slightly new style. Let me know what you think!

Puzzmosis with egoraptor is very close to complete but he's busy with some other projects at the moment so it's kind of in limbo. After puzzmosis is out I plan to take a break and gear up for some new projects for the end of the year. More on that later...

Timeline Update

RSS Feed
Posted by Shawn on April 13, 2010

Finally got around to updating the timeline/history page for 2009, late as usual :D 2009 history.

Also updated Puzzmosis' completion percent to 75%. A lot of the game is done but we're kind of at a standstill for the moment. Ego is busy finishing up Girlchan 3, and our musician is busy with some other projects. I'll be working on the next escape game in the meantime.

Ok it's been more than a month this time =(

I felt like enough work has been done to finally post some more info about the project I'm working on with Egoraptor. Click here for the preview page on Miss Osma's Puzzmosis!

Still not committing to a date of course...

Monthly update

RSS Feed
Posted by Shawn on January 14, 2010

It was brought to my attention that I tend to only update about once a month or so... and what can I say, that seems to be pretty accurate.

I didn't really get any work done over the holidays (to be expected) and I still had some apartment stuff to take care of but now most of that is out of the way and I'm back in the groove.

It's full steam ahead with Egoraptor on his puzzle game 'Miss Osma's Puzzmosis.' For some more info on the project see his post on Newgrounds here. Voice acting auditions are closed, sorry =(. I'll be adding a preview page to the site once we're a little farther along.

I say 'his' because the idea and execution all belong to ego at this point, I'm just following along and turning the game document into a playable product. It's kind of nice to work on a project where I don't have to focus on the design very much. But at the same time it can be kind of stressful because I don't always know what kind of requests ego is going to throw at me. Regardless I'm happy with how it's coming along so far and can't wait until it shapes up into an actual game.

Philadelphia!

RSS Feed
Posted by Shawn on December 15, 2009

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but I've definitely been busy. As I mentioned in October, I made the move back to Philly again after spending the summer in Ohio. What I didn't mention is that it was only the beginning- bringing minimal belongings and staying with some friends until I found a place of my own.

Two months later I'm back up to speed with my own apartment in Center City Philadelphia, with everything cleaned up and moved in. Oh and I'm also rooming with some guy named Luis. I found him on the streets and he looked like he needed a home.

As always I'm working on plenty of projects, some old and some new thanks to the crew we're building up over in Philly. Swain moved here with his cousin soon after I did in October. I'm keeping tight lipped on anything in the works right now though, no need to cause commotion until something is actually nearing completion.

I'll actually be heading back home for the holidays next week, so I don't expect much real work to get done until I come back in 2010. That being said, this year held me back a lot with school, updating my site, and moving between states. Expect a lot more games next year!

Bible Black, news

RSS Feed
Posted by Shawn on October 13, 2009

Waiting for Territory War updates? Maybe news on a new escape game? How about... an 80's themed, cheesy music video?? I present to you, Bible Black!

I'm back in Pennsylvania now, and before I left Ohio Joe and I collaborated on one final project. It's been a goal of Joe's for a long time now. I was skeptical at first, but ended up having a lot of fun producing it. So sorry if it's not what you were waiting for, but I need some variety in my work ;) Unfortunately the video display is a little distorted because the aspect ratio is widescreen and I don't have a video player to support that yet.

With Bible Black out of the way I can focus more heavily on Power of 3 again. Adobe's recent announcement of app development with the newest version of flash has me pretty excited, so I'm looking forward to testing that out when I get a chance too.

Denver + stuff.

What is it with me and making updates on the first of the month?

Anyway, just put up an article for the Denver Beerfest. This time I actually had a camera with me, and didn't feel like tweeting every hour, so I went with the classic approach. This was also a new trip, so it deserved a page of its own.

I updated my 2008 timeline, thanks to Danny for pointing out that I'm lazy ;)

I'll have a music video project uploaded for you guys to check out in about a week or so. You'll probably hate it because it's not a new escape game or content for Territory War, but that's ok :*(

Really anxious to release some details on our Power of 3 game...

New Guest Flash

Posted by Shawn on September 1, 2009

It's been a while since guest flash has been posted to the site, and I've been meaning to put these up:

Fancy Pants Adventures World 2. Brad Borne's smash hit platformer. Featuring a bonus level by me!

House of 1000 Cats. Zombie-Pimp's award-winning pico day 2008 submission. I helped out with the menu and intro animation.

Work continues on my power of three game with ego and kelwynshade. Still not releasing many details though... More to come!

Back from Comic-Con 09

RSS Feed
Posted by Shawn on August 2, 2009

Ok I've actually been back for about a week, just a little delayed in getting some updates up...

Comic-Con was, as always, plenty of fun. For me it's about meeting with everyone after-hours and talking flash. The appeal of the con itself is starting to wear thin, as each year becomes more of the same stuff with longer lines. Rather than take a bunch of pictures with my non-existent camera (see: wizard world), I opted to take some mobile photos and post comments along the way via twitter. This approach was a little more fun, since I don't have to recollect everything that just happened and find the pictures to match it. I might try it out more often...

Though I'm not going to post an actual article for Comic-Con, be sure to check out the amazing tourism advertisement that I came across while on my way to San Diego.

While at the con I spoke with many Newgrounds regulars including egoraptor, my artist partner for the Power of Three event. Progress has been a bit delayed due to the amount of traveling that both of us have been doing and will be doing, but the game is shaping up quite well. I still plan to start up some sort of devblog for the game, but I think I'm going to hold off until NG fleshes out their 'alphas' system, where everyone can post game updates in a uniform fashion.

I've actually been spending most of my time reading Essential Actionscript 3.0 by Colin Moock. Before picking it up I was already familiar with AS3, but this book fills in all the little gaps and offers plenty of new insight into the language itself. I'd like to read the book in its entirety before moving ahead significantly with Power of Three.

Other news: I updated the press section to include a few more articles regarding the Addictinggames Showdown and my win in the Escape Game category. There are actually a lot more articles than these, but most of them copy and paste the same text from each other.
